How Raw Living Foods Help Your Health

By: Brittney Miller

Raw living foods are some of the best types of food to eat to promote better overall health and nutrition. This article has a few reasons why you should eat these live whole foods versus cooked foods.

First off, raw living foods are basically nuts, fruits, vegetables, and salads. These live whole foods contain live enzymes that aid in digestion, vitamins, protein, and minerals. When these foods are cooked however, it has been said that almost 50% of the protein, vitamins, and minerals are killed and that most of the live enzymes are destroyed as well.

When cooked food is eaten, it has been said that the body treats it as if it were an enemy or foreign invader! Food is harder to digest when it is cooked and we aren't getting nearly the same amount of nutrients when we eat cooked food as when we eat raw food.

The negatives of eating cooked foods far outweigh the positives. Even if cooking foods only destroyed the enzymes, eating live foods would still be better for you. Without enzymes (which have been said to be the catalysts of every chemical reaction in our bodies) there can be no cellular division, the immune system cannot function properly, energy production cannot happen, nor any brain activity. So enzymes are pretty important wouldn't you guess? Which is why live whole foods are better for you.

Let's look at a few of the benefits of eating raw living foods over cooked foods:

1. Raw foods usually don't have preservatives or added color, and are an excellent source of hydration for the body due to their high water content.
2. Eating raw live whole foods provide an abundance of water, antioxidants, vitamins, fiber, minerals, and trace elements.
3. They require less work for the digestive system since they are quickly and easily absorbed by the body.
4. They have more flavor than cooked foods, so no need for too many spices. Which means preparation time is faster so less time in the kitchen.
5. Raw foods are better quality. You feel more satisfied and have more energy after a smaller meal of raw living foods because of the excellent balance of nutrients they have that your body needs. So you actually end up eating less while still feeling satisfied.

It has been said that those on the raw living food diet have seen considerable changes in their health. Just take a look a few of these benefits that may come from eating a diet rich in colors and raw living foods:

1. Clearer thinking, sharper, and more alert
2. Better rest and better sleep in less time
3. Weight loss
4. Virtually sickness-free
5. Less subject to nervous tensions and stresses
6. Can potentially help prevent many chronic diseases, such as cancer and heart disease

All these seem like obvious reasons to eat more raw living foods instead of cooked foods. At least try going on a live whole foods diet for a month to let your body feel the difference, then decide from there what you want to do.
