SEDUCE YOUR TASTE BUDS WITH RAW FOOD!
By: Hot Mumma
SEDUCE YOUR TASTE BUDS WITH RAW FOOD! "VARIETY" is the secret of a really useful raw food pantry and kitchen because at certain times of the year you will be limited with the types of fresh vegetables and fruit available.
The foods which provide this variety in the difficult seasons are:
various grains, seeds and pulses for sprouting, seeds, nuts, dried fruit, herbs, seasonings and spices.
Eating a raw food diet heightens your senses enabling you to enjoy the flavours of so many fantastic, natural additives. Used properly, seasonings should heighten the natural flavour of the food and not overpower it. Used sparingly they give endless subtle flavour combinations!
It's time to broaden your knowledge of herbs and spices! Each time you go shopping - buy a new one or better yet - grow your own at home! Here are a list of some delicious herbs and spices that will definitely seduce your taste buds!
Allspice, Angelica, Aniseed, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Cloves, Coriander, Ginger, Nutmeg and Mace - these are all seductive sweet spices used for fruit salads, dressings or desserts.
Basil, Bay Leaves, Caraway Seeds, Cayenne Pepper, Celery Seeds, Chervil, Chilli Powder, Dill, Fennel, Garlic, Horse-radish, Juniper Berries, Kelp, Lemon Balm, Marjoram, Mint, Mustard Seeds, Onion, Oregano, Paprika, Parsley, Pepper, Poppy Seeds, Rosemary, Sage, Sorrel, Tarragon and Thyme - these are all seductive savoury spices used for salads, soups and raw main dishes.
Remember to store dried herbs and spices in the dark as the light affects their potency. The best herbs and spices are the fresh ones! Invest in a mortar and pestle and grind your own - the flavours are out of this world compared with the dried versions!
Other great condiments to seduce your taste buds include - mustard, tahini, tamari, yeast extract, vinegar, vanilla, honey and molasses.
A raw food diet doesn't have to be drab and boring in flavour. Sometimes when we think of dieting and all those salads we have to consume - it doesn't really excite us! But with the wonderful help of added spices, herbs and condiments you could make the same salad up every day for a week and it would taste completely different each and every day just by the dressing you make up for it! Go ahead and try seducing your taste buds with raw food - I bet you can do it!
