SWITCHING TO A RAW FOOD LIFESTYLE

"A raw food lifestyle? I could never stick to it!" I hear you!

It does sound difficult ... but what a lot of people don't realise is that by switching to a raw food lifestyle you gradually come to feel that raw food is not only good for you but what you like best.

Raw foods give you a special quality of energy. This energy changes you physically as well as mentally, giving you strength, clarity of mind, confidence and a sense of wellbeing which makes you want to do what is best for your body. It also heightens your sense of smell and taste so that raw food becomes a delight to eat and before long a piece of pizza and chocolate cake lose their appeal!

Switching to raw food isn't just a diet, it's a way of life. Do you have any of the following goals in mind to achieve?

* to be happy

* to be healthy

* to look beautiful

* to be slim

* to be fit

* to stay young

* to be successful?

A raw food lifestyle can help you achieve all these goals! Often we have such negative feelings about ourselves that these goals seem out of reach, but switching to a raw food lifestyle gives us a balanced body chemistry which results in a positive outlook on life!

OK! So there is one rule to remember ... the 75% rule! Switching to a raw food lifestyle shouldn't consume your life, but become a part of it. Therefore, you can eat cooked food in small quantities. You just want the main focus of your meal to be raw food and you should begin each meal with a mouthful of raw food first so that the stomach can cope with the cooked food coming its way!

Let's talk about cooking vegetables ... The best method to cook vegetables is steaming. The vegetables hold all their nutrients and flavour, compared to boiling where all the nutrients end up in the water and the vegetable is flavourless and mushy! And don't even mention mircrowaving your vegetables! This is another quick method to killing off any goodness in the vegetables! Don't do it! Stir fry vegetables are also great as they cook quickly without losing their nutrients. The trick is to make sure they are crisp and not soft.

Switching to a raw food lifestyle shouldn't be a dramatic change. Your body won't cope with the release of all the toxins in one hit and you will experience headaches, illness, tiredness and irritability.

It should be done gradually. Start with one meal at a time introducing fresh juices and fruit at breakfast and slowly eliminate cooked foods until you reach 75% raw food for that meal. Then work on the next meal each day. This is the best way to discover the benefits of raw energy.

If you are already fairly healthy and want to just get straight into switching to a raw food lifestyle, then why not try a week or two on fresh juices only, to rejuvenate your body and get a kick start! There are so many benefits of switching to a raw food lifestyle, I hope you give it a try.
